Vega Empowering Women and Building Stronger Teams: A Corporate Self-Defence Class with Vega South Africa

Vega Empowering Women and Building Stronger Teams: A Corporate Self-Defence Class with Vega South Africa

We Kicked off the 1st day of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign by host a corporate self-defence class we partnered with Vega’s South African division for their incredible team of ladies in Lanseria. This event wasn’t just a fun and engaging team-building activity—it reinforced essential skills for personal safety and empowerment, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.

This collaboration followed Vega’s celebration of Women’s Month earlier in the year, where they gifted their staff with meaningful self defence corporate gifts. Fast forward to November, and they took their commitment further by kicking off this impactful workshop, blending safety education with fun, laughter, and teamwork.

Corporate Self-Defence: More Than Just a Class

At first glance, a self-defence class might seem like just a physical activity, but it’s so much more. Events like this strengthen interpersonal bonds, boost confidence, and create a supportive environment for women in the workplace.

What Happened During the Class?

The session was packed with:

Hands-On Training: Practical drills that taught the ladies how to protect themselves in various situations.

Safety Tips: Guidance on staying alert in public spaces and de-escalating unsafe scenarios.

Laughter and Bonding: Team-building exercises that broke the ice and created memorable moments.

The highlight of the day? The group photo! The ladies proudly struck their best fighting stances with big smiles, showing off the confidence and camaraderie built during the session.

Why Corporate Self-Defence Training is a Game-Changer

For companies, investing in team development doesn’t always have to mean technical training or traditional workshops. Self-defence classes offer a unique combination of practical skills and personal growth, making them an ideal choice for skills development and team-building.

Here’s why companies like Vega are making self-defence part of their strategy:

1. Empowered Employees: Confident, capable staff are more engaged and motivated.

2. Stronger Teams: Shared experiences like this foster trust and improve collaboration.

3. Practical Value: Safety skills that extend beyond the workplace to employees’ everyday lives.

4. Alignment with CSR Goals: Supporting initiatives like 16 Days of Activism reflects positively on a company’s values and brand.

By allocating their skills development budget to this workshop, Vega showcased their commitment to their team’s well-being while creating a meaningful and memorable experience.

Why Safety Initiatives Matter Now
