Celebrating Women’s Day 2024 with a Free Self-Defence Class

This Women’s Day 9 August 2024, We @ Keychain SA took a bold step in empowering women by hosting a free self-defence class at the beautiful Thaba Eco Village in Mulbarton, South Johannesburg.

Partnering with property giants Balwin Properties & Training Science, we welcomed over 70 enthusiastic ladies who were eager to learn how to protect themselves in real-life situations.

This event marked the first of many free self-defense classes that we plan to host across South Africa. Our 1.5-hour Introductory class was designed to equip participants with essential self-defence skills, starting with mindset training and practical demonstrations using our self-defence keychain sets. The response was overwhelming, with many attendees expressing a keen interest in future sessions.

This introductory class is set to follow our Full physical self defence class which will be announced soon ( Spots are limited as we do a max of 18 ladies per class) Sexual assault prevention is by far one of the favourites amongst the ladies. Not to mention taking an attacker down in less than 2.5 seconds, Common attacks, Safety tips, Hostage situations and more...

We were honored to conduct the class in the state-of-the-art gym provided by Training Science, located within the lifestyle center. The Thaba Eco Village is more than just a venue; it’s a thriving community that offers apartments for rent and sale, a Montessori school, a gym, and various recreational facilities, including a C Wellness Spa, a car wash, hiking and cycling trails, paddle courts, soccer courts, basketball courts, and even a skate park. They’ve recently added a bike wash, enhancing the experience for outdoor enthusiasts. The village also boasts a fantastic pool area and a dog park, making it the perfect location for active families.

Balwin’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles aligns perfectly with Keychain SA’s mission to combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Together, we are taking active steps to ensure that women feel safer and more confident in their daily lives.
